What Is a Conjunctivitis Consultation?

A conjunctivitis evaluation helps identify the cause of eye redness or irritation, whether bacterial, viral, allergic, or chemical, and provides treatment recommendations.

During Your Consultation, We Review:
  • Eye redness, discharge, itching, and tearing
  • Recent exposures and contagious risk
  • Associated systemic symptoms like fever or cold
  • Recommendations for eye drops, medications, or specialist referral
  • Guidance on hygiene and prevention of spread

Why Conjunctivitis Evaluation Matters

Early in-home assessment helps prevent spread and ensures timely care. UrgentCare2Go® helps patients:

  • Identify bacterial, viral, allergic, or chemical causes
  • Prevent spread through proper hygiene and treatment
  • Receive guidance on medications or eye drops
  • Know when follow-up or specialist referral is necessary
  • Support recovery and symptom management

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

UrgentCare2Go

What is conjunctivitis?

Conjunctivitis, or pink eye, is inflammation or infection of the conjunctiva, causing redness, itching, and discharge.

What are common symptoms?

Symptoms include red or pink eyes, watery or sticky discharge, itching, burning, and crusting on eyelids.

When should I seek evaluation?

Seek evaluation if you experience eye pain, vision changes, significant discharge, or symptoms in both eyes, especially if contagious risk exists.

Is it contagious?

Bacterial and viral conjunctivitis can be contagious; allergic and chemical types are not. Evaluation helps determine the cause and prevent spread.

Can this evaluation be done at home?

UrgentCare2Go provides safe in-home assessments for mild to moderate symptoms and guides treatment and hygiene practices.

Do I need prescription medication?

Some cases require antibiotic or antiviral eye drops; others resolve with supportive care. Providers determine the best treatment plan.

How long does recovery take?

Recovery varies by type: bacterial usually resolves in 7–10 days with treatment; viral may take 1–2 weeks; allergic responds to allergy management.

Can children get evaluated?

Yes. Pediatric patients are evaluated with careful attention to age-specific treatment and contagion prevention.

Is follow-up necessary?

Follow-up may be recommended if symptoms persist, worsen, or if a secondary infection is suspected.

Does insurance cover this visit?

Most major insurance plans cover conjunctivitis evaluations. Coverage varies by plan and visit type.
